The CT Department of Public Health building is located at 410 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06134. The 410 Capitol Avenue Complex (Department of Public Health- DPH) is a series of renovated, brick, turn-of-the-century, factory buildings located on Capitol Avenue in Hartford, approximately one-half mile west of the State Capitol.

PLEASE PLAN ON PARKING IN PARKING LOT “C” WHICH HAS SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE. THERE IS LIMITED PARKING BEHIND THE CT DPH BUILDING.
THE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE IS ABOUT A 3-5 MINUTE RIDE TO DPH BUILDING- NOTE IT IS NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. READ BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.

From 1-91 (north or south) and from east of the river: [back to top]
In Hartford, take I-84 west, in less than a mile from the I-91 interchange, get off at Asylum Street, Exit 48. At the signal at the bottom of the ramp, make a gradual RIGHT, staying to the LEFT of the fork on to Farmington Avenue. Take an immediate LEFT at the signal on to Broad Street.
Take the first RIGHT at the signal on to Capitol Avenue. The Capitol Avenue complex (DPH) is two blocks on the RIGHT just past the signal at the base of Putnam Street. For parking Lot C take a LEFT on Capitol Avenue and go approximately ¼ mile. Then take a RIGHT on Forest Street to Parking Lot C which will be on the LEFT. See parking recommendations below..
From the West [back to top]
Take 1-84 east to Capitol Avenue, Exit 48B, bearing RIGHT toward the Capitol area and staying to the RIGHT of the ramp. At the bottom of the ramp, turn RIGHT on to Capitol Avenue. The Capitol Avenue Complex (CT DPH) is on the RIGHT just past the signal at the base of Putnam Street.
Please continue past the CT DPH (410) building and take a RIGHT on to Forest Street to Parking Lot C on the LEFT. See parking recommendations below.
**NOTE- In order to enter the DPH Building you must have a drivers license or suitable photo identification and you must sign in.

PARKING RECOMMENDATIONS
We highly recommended using Parking Lot C
Do not Park Behind CT DPH Building - Limited Spaces
Go to Parking Lot C- Free parking. Parking Lot C offers free shuttles going to DPH Building and back. Port-A-Potty is located at shuttle site. Lot C is at the corner of Forest Street and Capitol Avenue next to Hartford High School at 55 Forest Street. Shuttle Service is available.
NOT Recommended- Off street parking across and down the side streets from CT DPH may be available from 8 AM to 6 PM, but they only have a 2 hour limit.
Handicap Parking– There are 13 handicap spaces behind the DPH building. Entrance to DPH Handicapped Parking is off Capital Avenue. Turn on Babcock Avenue and go behind the DPH building. Go to the gate and press intercom button. The security officer will provide instructions from there. You can park in those sites; or as a last resort, you can be dropped off at the building while someone parks your car in Parking Lot C and takes the shuttle back to the DPH Building. Please use caution- this is a high traffic area!

Food is available in the cafeteria inside the DPH building at 410 Capitol Ave and also at the Legislative Office Building (if the hearing is moved there). Dunkin’ Donuts is about a 5 minute walk from DPH. It is located at Lawrence Street and Capitol Avenue and has limited parking in back. Red Rock Hartford Tavern (369 Capitol Avenue)- serves deli-style sandwiches (seats approximately 120 people). La Paloma Sabanera Coffee House (405 Capitol Avenue) is within site of DPH building.
